After high school in the United States, Christian Volckman joined the School of Graphic Arts in 1989 (Ecole Supérieures d'Art Graphiques - Paris) where he studied drawing, painting and photography. He made his first animated short film, Le Cobaye, during his last year of school in 1994.
Christian made his name in 1999 with his animated short Maaz (1999), a sci-fi short film entirely shot in Super 16 on a blue background that will take three years to make, was a huge success. He won 32 awards in various festivals and was nominated for Oscars in 2002.
In 2006, he directed his first feature, Renaissance, presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, produced by Onyx Films and co-produced by Disney Pictures and Black Bird , a sci-fi animated black-and-white movie with no shades of gray, with the voice of Daniel Craig. Renaissance wins the Cristal of the feature film at the Annecy Festival in 2006, shortlisted at the Oscars 2007.
In 2008, with Raphaël Thierry, Christian Volckman created the "© ®" pair and the "The Flow" project which is at the origin of a series of thematic exhibitions resulting from their artistic collaboration.
Christian has directed several Music Videos for the group ChineseMan, the French singer Zaz, The song "Requiem" (Alma) who reprensented France at the Eurovision in 2017, for the group General Elektriks and for the Israeli Artist Roni Alter in 2018.

"The Kid " A science fiction re-imagining of Chaplin Chaplin’s 1921 film - “The Kid” to be directed by Christian Volckman and Ruppert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”). French animation outfit Superprod, Luxembourg’s Bidibul and U.S. banner Big Beach, the New-York based company behind “Little Miss Sunshine,” have joined forces to produce the yet-to-be-titled animated feature inspired by the characters and themes in “The Kid.”
