Synopsis

In a vast suburb near Rio de Janeiro, the "Baixada Fluminense," many children and adolescents have escaped the worst. Among them, many owe their salvation to an organization called Sabiá.

The vibrant atmosphere of a music school that, beyond its walls, is a school of positive thinking. A school of empowerment through music.

A model of transmission and democracy.

A school predominantly made up of people from racial minorities; primarily women, and many young people. A haven of peace in a neighborhood plagued by extreme violence. For over 30 years, it has been leading its own revolution — a revolution through education and culture.

Founded by a researcher and musicologist from Rio, this social community emerged in the 1980s thanks to music enthusiasts, talented lyricists, and composers, most of whom were workers and ordinary laborers. They dedicated their free time to providing young people with access to culture.

They strengthened social and civic awareness through the roots of Samba, a heritage that was on the verge of being forgotten
